Introduction
Background
The Faculty of Agriculture is the heir to Egerton College whose history dates back to 1939. However, the Faculty as it
is today, came into being in August 1986, when Egerton College was, by an Act of Parliament, elevated to the status of
University College, affiliated to the University of Nairobi for the purpose of awarding degrees. The Faculty of Agriculture
was challenged with the responsibility of launching three of the first five degree programmes, namely; Bachelor of Science
in Agricultural Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Animal Production, and Bachelor of Science in Horticulture.

The Faculty of Agriculture is headed by a Dean who is the administrative and academic head. Assisting the Dean on the day-to-day administrative matters, are two Assistant Registrars.

Objectives
- Develop and disseminate scientific information through training, research and outreach.
- Offer holistic and quality education in agricultural and related sciences.
- Provide dynamic programmes that are responsive to our changing needs of society.
- Provide practical and competent graduates who can address and solve natural as well as regional challenges in agriculture and environmental sectors.
- Develop partnerships with farmers, private sector, national and international agricultural research institution in technology development and utilization for enhanced agricultural productivity and income.
